The Glades

Roaming through the Glades in South Surrey is like exploring an entirely new world, but plan ahead, because this world is only open to the public a few times each year! The manicured gardens, gorgeous water features and signature magnificent rhododendrons are truly a sight to be seen. With over 7.5 acres that are home to more than 1600 mature plants and trees, you’re guaranteed to walk away with at least one stunning photograph.

Darts Hill Gardens

This true hidden gem exists thanks to the incredible vision of one woman named Francisca Darts. Known as a true Plantsman’s Garden, Darts Hill Garden, which was once a flourishing fruit orchard, is now a beautiful collection of trees and plants from around the world, planted and groomed specifically to flourish during all four seasons. Similar to the Glades Gardens, Darts Hill is open to the public on specific days throughout the year.

The Living Walls

Here’s a local secret for you… there are TWO living walls at the Guildford Town Centre Mall. The living walls are a unique and innovative way to inject a healthy dose of nature into an urban setting. The smaller of the two can be found inside the mall, but the larger one – North America’s largest living wall – can be found outside the structure on 104 avenue and spanning over 10,000 square-feet, comprising of 45,000 individual plants and including 110 species!

Bear Creek Park Gardens

Bear Creek Park is commonly known as a beautiful setting for community events, but what people might not know is that hidden among the beautiful trees, is also a magnificent garden, lined with red maples, manicured bedding and bulb displays. There’s even a small chapel, which makes an incredible setting for weddings and photographers.

Redwood Park

Redwood Park is home to a magical kind of garden that only the young and young at heart will find captivating. Secluded among the groves of towering Redwoods is a magical fairy garden. Nobody quite knows who the first enchanted resident was (or when exactly she moved in!), but the collection of tiny, beautifully-decorated fairy houses continues to grow each and every year.
