The 3rd Annual Art in the City Studio Tour will take place on Saturday, October 1 to Sunday, October 2, 2016. This self-guided tour provides artists and artisans a unique opportunity to showcase their original work to both visitors and residents. Visitors to the studios will receive a meaningful and enlightening experience by artists and artisans showcasing their talents through demonstration, exhibition and engagement.
This year we’re even hosting a contest for tickets to the Surrey Civic Theatre and The Royal Canadian Theatre Company. It’s very easy to enter. Just pick up your Art in the City: Studio Tour Brochure and flip to page one for the full details. Visit three locations on the tour and have the artists initial their names in the brochure, fill out your name, and drop off your brochure at the Newton Cultural Centre!
Discover Surrey is proud to work with both the Arts Council of Surrey and Semiahmoo Arts on the Art in the City Studio Tour. The organization is dedicated to increasing awareness of tourism opportunities in the city, including promoting artists in the community.
The Arts Council of Surrey has been working on behalf of the arts community for more than forty years and each year continues to expand its scope of service and influence. It exists to create awareness, appreciation and pride in the artistic and cultural achievements of our community. The Arts Council sponsors and produces more than 15 events each year in addition to participating in community events such as the City of Surrey Fusion Festival and Children’s Festival, the Surrey Association of Art Teachers student exhibit, and various other community events. The Arts Council is currently located at the Newton Cultural Centre.
The Surrey Leader proudly sponsors Art in the City. It is the largest paper by circulation in the Black Press group of community papers.
Founded in 1929, most of the paper’s growth, as well as the city’s, has occurred in the past 32 years. Through that time, the Leader has adapted to better serve its growing readership. In 1982, it converted to a free-distribution weekly tabloid that also reached into the neighbouring community of North Delta.
The Royal Canadian Theatre Company is proud to be a sponsor at this years Art in the City. They are a professional, non for profit, theatrical and event entertainment society. Headed by Ellie King, The Royal Canadian Theatre Company strives for excellence. They aim to leave their audience wanting more each and every time they experience one of their exciting productions.
Surrey Civic Theatres is thrilled to sponsor this years Art in the City tour. They provide Surrey locals with entertainment close to home. Walk away from the television and step into the realm of exciting and entertaining artistic performances!
Art in the City is proudly sponsored by the City of Surrey. We gratefully acknowledge the support of the City of Surrey’s Cultural Grants Program to help run this initiative, promoting established and rising artists and artisans in this thriving arts community.
